The MI Maastricht Student Fellowships

The Montesquieu Institute Maastricht Student Fellowships programme is an exciting opportunity for students interested in European and comparative constitutional law and politics. Student fellows will be involved in further developing the research activities of the Montesquieu Institute Maastricht and the Montesquieu network. They will provide support to the Institute in various ways. Assignments will include practical responsibilities, for example in the organisation of MI conferences and workshops, but may also entail research assistance or other activities at the Institute. In addition, student fellows are encouraged to participate in the Institute’s educational activities, such as the MI Master Class in The Hague. Fellowships are devised on an individual basis, taking into account both the Institute’s needs and the student’s own academic background and interests.

Terms and Eligibility

The MI Maastricht Student Fellowships programme is highly selective. The Institute can accommodate a small number of student fellows each year. Only applicants in an advanced stage of their studies with a strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in the Institute’s research area will be considered. Student fellows are appointed for the remainder of the academic year (other arrangements may be considered) and must be enrolled at Maastricht University for the duration of their appointment. Each student fellow is assigned a mentor, who will supervise and coordinate the student’s work at the Institute. Students fellows will be able to participate in all activities organised by MI Maastricht free of charge. Any expenses incurred will be reimbursed, if approved by the Institute in advance. In addition, limited funds may be available to assist student fellows in other activities.
